Extension Kit

Sometimes a membership site needs a feature only it will ever use. Extension Kit is a starter plugin for building your own Ultimate Membership Pro custom add-on. It has the same structure as the other Pro add-ons, with the wiring already done, so you start with your feature, not with boilerplate.

It is a developer tool. On its own, it adds a card to the Modules screen with an on and off switch and a settings screen ready for your fields. What it does next is the code you write.

What the Ultimate Membership Pro custom add-on kit includes

• A Modules card and settings screen. Your add-on appears in the Modules screen with its own page, switch and Save Changes button.
• Settings saved the plugin’s way. Default options are registered through the Ultimate Membership Pro options filter and saved with its own save routine.
• A switch your code respects. The front-end part of the add-on runs only while the add-on is switched on.
• One settings array. Your add-on’s slug, name, description, text domain and minimum Ultimate Membership Pro version are set in one array.
• Assets, translation and clean-up. Public and admin CSS and JavaScript are enqueued, a languages folder is set up, and uninstalling deletes the add-on’s options.
• A version check. The kit confirms Ultimate Membership Pro is active and recent enough before it runs, and shows an admin notice when it isn’t.

How to build with Extension Kit

1. Install Extension Kit like any Pro add-on and switch it on in Modules.
2. Set your slug, name, description and text domain in its settings array.
3. Add your fields to the settings view and your logic where the code comments mark the spots.
4. Hook into Ultimate Membership Pro’s actions and filters to react to registrations, payments and Membership changes.

Who Extension Kit is for

• Developers and agencies. Build custom features for client sites as a separate plugin, outside Ultimate Membership Pro’s own files, so plugin updates leave your code in place.
• Site-specific automations. React when a payment completes or a Membership becomes active, with hooks such as ihc_payment_completed and ihc_action_after_subscription_activated.
• Features your team switches on. Give a custom feature the same Modules card and settings screen as the other add-ons, so non-developers can turn it on and off.

For example, a coaching club’s developer can use the kit to build a small add-on that emails the coach whenever someone buys the Annual Pass, through the ihc_payment_completed action, with a switch in Modules to pause it.

Which plans include Extension Kit?

Extension Kit comes with the Full Package and Agency plans, together with all 46 Pro add-ons. The Pro plan doesn’t include Pro add-ons.

What does Extension Kit do on its own?

It adds a card to the Modules screen with a switch and a settings screen, and loads its own CSS and JavaScript files. The feature itself is the code you add.

Do I need to know PHP?

Yes. Extension Kit is for developers who know PHP and WordPress hooks, add_action and add_filter, and want to package their code as an Ultimate Membership Pro add-on.

Where can I find the hooks?
