Prevent Subscription Cancellations

A monthly plan with a three-month program behind it doesn’t work if members cancel after the first payment. Prevent Subscription Cancellations lets you prevent subscription cancellations until members have made a minimum number of payments. Until then, the Cancel button is hidden in the member’s Subscriptions table.

You set the rule Membership by Membership. Memberships without a rule keep their normal Cancel button.

Prevent subscription cancellations with a minimum term

• Count payments. Choose Installments and enter a number: 3 on a monthly Membership shows the Cancel button after the third payment.
• One rule per Membership. Each recurring Membership has its own switch, so only the plans you choose have a minimum.
• Checked per subscription. The rule follows each subscription, so a member’s other Memberships keep their own rules.
• Cancel and Remove both wait. While the limit applies, both buttons are hidden in the member’s Subscriptions table in the Member Portal.
• Back to normal after the term. Once the required payments are made, the Cancel button shows as usual.

How Prevent Subscription Cancellations works

1. Switch on the add-on in Ultimate Membership Pro.
2. Edit a recurring Membership and turn on its Prevent Subscription Cancellations switch.
3. Enter the number of payments members make before they can cancel, then save the Membership.
4. Members see the Cancel button in their Subscriptions table once that number of payments is reached.

When a minimum commitment helps

• Programs that run over several months. A coaching program or course billed monthly, where results come from staying to the end.
• Plans priced for commitment. A monthly price that only makes sense when members stay for a minimum number of payments.

For example, a coaching club sells Pro Monthly at $19 a month with a minimum of three payments. Members see no Cancel button until the third payment is made. Showing the rule on your pricing page, for example “Minimum 3 monthly payments”, lets members know before they buy.

Which Memberships can have a minimum term?

Memberships with the Recurring Subscription access type. Each one has its own switch, so you choose which plans have a minimum.

What does the member see?

Their Subscriptions table in the Member Portal shows the Membership without the Cancel and Remove buttons while the limit applies. After the required payments, the Cancel button is back.

Is the rule set per member or per Membership?

Per Membership, and it is checked for each subscription. A member’s other Memberships keep their own rules.

What if a member needs to leave early?

They can contact you, and you manage their Membership from the Members list in Ultimate Membership Pro.
