Extended Shortcodes
One page often has to speak to different people. Visitors need a reason to join, and members need a quick way into their account. Extended Shortcodes adds membership shortcodes you can place on any page or post to show content only to visitors, only to logged-in users, or only to the members of one Membership.
It also adds links to your Login, Register, Lost Password, Account and Subscription pages, and each link shows only to the people who need it.
Membership shortcodes for each audience
Show content by login status
- Logged-in users. [ump-logged-user] shows the content you wrap to anyone who is logged in, whatever their Membership.
- Visitors. [ump-visitor] shows it only to people who aren’t logged in.
Show content to one Membership
Every Membership gets its own shortcode: ump-show-for_ plus the Membership’s internal name, for example [ump-show-for_pro_monthly]. The content shows while the member holds that Membership and it is active. A new Membership gets its shortcode as soon as you save it.
Add links to your membership pages
- For visitors. [ump-login-page-link], [ump-register-page-link] and [ump-lost-password-page-link] print links to your Login, Register and Lost Password pages.
- For members. [ump-account-page-link] links to the Member Portal, and [ump-subscription-page-link] links to the page with the Memberships on offer.
Each link appears only for its own audience, so it needs no extra wrapping.
How Extended Shortcodes works
- Switch on Extended Shortcodes in Ultimate Membership Pro.
- Copy a shortcode from the table on the add-on screen. It lists one shortcode for each of your Memberships.
- Paste it in a Shortcode block, the classic editor or your page builder’s shortcode element.
- Wrap the content you want to target, or place a link shortcode where the link should appear.
Step-by-step setup is in the Extended Shortcodes guide. For the shortcodes built into Ultimate Membership Pro, see the shortcodes reference.
One page for visitors and members
- Welcome pages. Greet visitors and members differently on the same page, without building separate pages.
- Upgrade prompts. Give logged-in members a link to your Memberships, right where they read about the extras.
- Member-only notes. Add a short message for one Membership inside an otherwise public post.
For example, a coaching club builds one welcome page. Visitors see an invitation with Register Page and Login Page links. Free Community members see a welcome text and the Subscription Page link, so they can upgrade. Pro Monthly members see their workbook message and the Account Page link.
Works well with
- Content restriction, to protect whole pages, posts or categories with Access Rules.
- Inside Locker, to lock part of a page for several Memberships at once.
- Member Portal, the account area your Account Page link opens.
