Restrict WP Menu
A visitor needs Join and Log in. A paying member needs Live sessions and the workbook library. Restrict WP Menu lets you show different menus to logged in users, to visitors and to the members of each Membership, in the same menu location of your theme.
Instead of one long menu with a rule on every link, you build a complete menu for each group and the add-on swaps it in.
Different menus for visitors, logged-in users and each Membership
- Visitors. Pick the menu people see before they log in.
- Logged-in users. Pick the menu for registered users who have no active Membership.
- Each Membership. Give every Membership its own menu, so each plan gets navigation that fits what it includes.
- Every menu location. Choose a menu per group for each location your theme offers. Leave a location on its current menu when a group should keep it.
- Priorities for several Memberships. When a member holds more than one Membership, the one with priority 1 decides the menu.
How Restrict WP Menu works
- Create one WordPress menu for each group you want to serve.
- Switch on Restrict WP Menu in Ultimate Membership Pro.
- For visitors, registered users and each Membership, choose a menu for each menu location.
- Set the priorities and save. Each person now sees the menu of their group.
Step-by-step setup is in the Restrict WP Menu guide.
Whole menus or single links?
Ultimate Membership Pro itself lets you show menu items only to some members. That fits when a few links differ, such as Log in and My Account. Restrict WP Menu goes a step further: it swaps the whole menu, which is the better fit when each group needs a different navigation.
Navigation that grows with each plan
- Tiered plans. Free members see Community, while paying members also see Live sessions and the Workbook library.
- A short visitor menu. Visitors get a focused menu that leads to joining and logging in.
For example, a coaching club shows visitors a menu with Home, Join Coaching Club and Log in. Registered users and Free Community members get Home, My Account and Community. Pro Monthly and Annual Pass members get a Pro Menu that adds Live sessions and the Workbook library. With priorities set to Annual Pass 1, Pro Monthly 2 and Free Community 3, a member with a paid and a free Membership sees the Pro Menu.
Works well with
- Restrict Widgets, to choose who sees each sidebar widget.
- Hidden HTML Elements, to hide other parts of the page by CSS class or ID.
- Content restriction, to protect the pages your members-only links lead to.
